Nadi (also known as "Yoga meridians") refers to the tubes in the body used to transport breath and energy. Sodhana means purification or removal.


Meridian cleaning breathing control method controls emotion and energy by alternating breathing between left and right nostrils, so it is also called "alternating breathing between left and right nostrils".

The nerves extending from the two cerebral hemispheres meet at the center of the eyebrow. The left brain connects the right side and right nostril of the body, and the right brain connects the left side and left nostril of the body. Alternate nostril breathing can balance the left and right hemispheres of the brain, balance yin and Yang, and make people feel peaceful and quiet.


At any time of the day, we breathe mainly through one of the two nostrils. The transformation rhythm of the nostril that dominates breathing is 90-150 minutes. The length of this cycle is the reflection of cosmic rhythm, personal temperament and individual mind and physiological balance.

Today, I'd like to introduce the method of alternate breathing between left and right nostrils in detail:

Handprint: left hand forms wisdom handprint, right hand forms nose handprint

Steps: first, choose a comfortable sitting position, straighten your spine and sink your shoulders

-Cover the right nostril with your right thumb and inhale with your left nostril

-Silently count 1-4


Step 2

-Cover the left nostril with the right ring finger and close both nostrils

-Open the right nostril and exhale with the right nostril

-Silently count 1-6

-Inhale through your right nostril

-Silently count 1-4

-Cover your nostrils with your right thumb

-Both nostrils are closed

-Open the left nostril and exhale with the left nostril

-Silently count 1-6


You can try to practice left and right alternate nostril breathing on an empty stomach every morning to feel the changes brought to the mind by left and right nostril breathing.
